Instructor: Lucille Amos
Saturdays, April 10, May 15, June 26. Final class date to be decided. 9:30am to 4:30pm
The Coral Reef is a Technique of the Month by Judy Niemeyer. We meet for 4 months to work on the different techniques showcased in the pattern. Choose from Wall 80” x 80” or Queen 99” x 99”. Lucille is a patient, thorough, kind instructor. We will have several different kits to chose from, or we are happy to help you pick fabrics for your quilt.
PRE-WORK FOR CORAL REEF CLASS
The following is the schedule I am planning to follow for the Coral Reef class:
1st class – Booklet 6 – Group A and Booklet 5 – Group B
2nd class – Booklet 3 – Group D and F – Part 1 and 2 and Booklet 2 – Group E
3rd class – Booklet 1 (all parts) and Booklet 4 – Group C
4th class - Sew together
Because of the way the pattern is written from the outside in the location of booklets
may be confusing at first. When I did my sample; I constructed it from the inside out and that way seems to be more logical to me.
This is not a complicated quilt to construct; but there will be a lot of sewing each month since we are completing the quilt in 4 classes.
Prior to class in April you can get your papers and template layout sheets cut out and placed
in the proper bag as per your instructions. Remember, do not cut right on the line for sewing papers. Cut 1/8” from the black line. Same for template layout sheets. Cut 1/8” from black line. Do not cut template layout sheets apart until you have the required amount of fabric under them.
I suggest you purchase a notebook to keep all of your instructions in by booklet.
As for cutting fabric for first class, there are many alternatives for this quilt and I do not know what alternative your chose for your quilt. If you understand the cutting of fabric, go ahead and cut the fabric. If you do not understand, I will be happy to assist you in class.
